Part 2 – The Spirella shape
Part 3 – Finishing the card
We regret that the stencil and the Spirella wheels used in this demonstration have been discontinued by the manufacturer. However the general technique can be applied to most other stencils and Spirella wheels.
Materials
- Pearlescent mauve single fold deckle edge greetings card 144 mm (5½ in) square
- Sheet of thin white card
- Pack of Spirella Shapes by Le Crea Design in purple
- Spirella Embossing Stencil Rose by Le Crea Design
- Embossing tool
- Embossing wax
- Versa Color ink cubes in sage, lilac and lavender.
- Foam brush.
- Silver Hearts sticker, Silver sticker Plain Borders
- DMC metallic thread code number 4280 and 4041
- Card adhesive, Self-adhesive mini foam pads, Adhesive tape
- Light box
- Cutting mat, craft knife, metal ruler, scissors, pencil.
Put the thin white card on a cutting mat. Measure 120 mm from the left-hand corner along the base and upright. Cut a triangle.
Lay the white triangle on the front of the greetings card. Place the embossing stencil on top of this and adjust to find the best position.
Carefully remove the stencil and triangle whilst holding them together. Turn them over and place them on the light box. Secure them in position with small pieces of adhesive tape.
Lubricate the tip of your embossing tool with wax. This will help it run smoothly. Keep it well waxed as you work on the embossing.
Run the embossing tool around the edge of the rose design to push the paper downwards.
When the embossing is complete remove the triangle and stencil from the light box and turn them over. Place the triangle on the cutting mat then put the stencil on this. Line the stencil up with the design and secure them in position with small pieces of adhesive tape.
Use a foam dauber brush to dab on colour from Versa Color ink cubes. The stem is sage green and the flower is a blend of lilac and lavender.
Add strips of border sticker in the corner of the triangle.
Apply card adhesive to the back of the triangle.
Mount the triangle on the front of the greetings card.
